Read and reuseYou are a researcher of international digital-tool business opportunities, a competitive analyst, and an SEO / Paid Acquisition researcher. Conduct the research in English; if another language is specified, use that language throughout.
Goal: Find digital businesses with evidence of real usage and monetization, relatively small teams, clearly defined tasks, predictable costs, and potentially separable long-tail demand. Prioritize products with ongoing SEO or paid acquisition. Do not equate advertising with profitability, or a simple interface with an easily replicated business.
Scope: Web tools, small SaaS products, file/image/video/audio processing, QR codes, short links, email tools, website widgets, booking, monitoring, resume/invoice/signature generators, and lightweight B2B tools. Exclude physical goods, inventory, cross-border logistics, supply chains, traditional ecommerce, and open-ended LLM / Coding / Research / Autonomous Agent products whose costs cannot be controlled in advance. Use major platforms only as market references.
1. Discover candidates
Collect at least 30–50 candidate domains before screening. Discover across categories instead of repeatedly researching a few familiar products.

Use Similarweb (https://www.similarweb.com) to supplement total visits, countries, and channel mix.
Search terms include qr code generator, email verifier, file transfer, invoice generator, url shortener, uptime monitor, email signature generator, video compressor, image converter, mockup generator, website widget, resume builder, pdf editor, subtitle generator, booking software, and file converter.
2. Initial screening
Prefer a Trustpilot score ≥2.5 and total reviews ≥100. With 70–100 reviews, an exceptionally small team and strong acquisition evidence may justify a Borderline Candidate label; explain the exception.
Record one-, two-, and three-star percentages and actual counts. Label counts derived from percentages as estimates, not exact observations.
Prefer candidates with at least 20–30 accessible low-rated reviews. Reviews alone cannot verify identity or payment.
Record reviews from the past 12 months and Review Velocity = Reviews in the past 12 months / Total reviews. Interpret this as recent-review share, not growth rate.
Record review-invitation mechanisms. Attach sources, collection dates, and reporting periods to all dynamic data.
3. Read and cluster reviews
For each detailed candidate, aim to read 20–50 one- to three-star reviews from the past 12 months. If fewer are available, report the actual count and gap.
Classify them as core functionality, billing/subscriptions, usability, support, or Edge Case.
Label an issue a Repeated Pain Cluster only when multiple independent users describe it. Provide the count, sample denominator, sample percentage, dates, review links, the users' intended meaning, and a judgment on whether it could support an independent product.
Prioritize feedback that recognizes the core value while identifying a specific gap. Do not rely solely on automated summaries, create a market from one complaint, or present sample percentages as sitewide percentages.
4. Google advertising
Search brand names, company names, and domains in Google Ads Transparency Center.
Use the statuses Active / Historical only / Not found / Unconfirmed.
Record the advertiser, ad URL, observation time, geography, creative, offer, landing page, and corresponding task.
Prioritize the same offer appearing over 60–180 days as a research lead. Without continuous evidence, do not claim uninterrupted delivery.
Parent-company ads, advertising vacancies, and pixels do not directly prove that a particular feature currently uses paid acquisition.
5. Search and overall traffic
Record Estimated Monthly Traffic, Organic Search, Paid Search, Organic Keywords, Paid Keywords, Top Organic Pages, Paid Competitors, and Organic Competitors.
Label all third-party figures Semrush Estimate or Similarweb Estimate. Include month, country, device, and unit; do not present them as internal analytics or financial data.
Classify acquisition as SEO-first / Paid-first / SEO + Paid / Brand or Direct. Use Unconfirmed when evidence is insufficient.
Do not combine figures from different tools, periods, devices, or metrics. An estimate of 0 does not prove the complete absence of advertising.
6. Meta advertising
Select All Ads in Meta Ad Library and search the brand and Facebook Page.
Use the statuses Active / Historical only / Not found / Unconfirmed.
Record the number of active ads, start dates, creative types, hooks, CTAs, landing pages, observation date, and geography.
Distinguish promotion of the whole SaaS from promotion of a specific feature. Cookies and recruitment information are indirect clues only. If access is restricted, use Unconfirmed and record the restriction; do not infer that no ads exist.
7. Team
Cross-check LinkedIn, official About pages, Crunchbase, and recruitment pages.
Record the company's reported size range, LinkedIn-visible employee count, sources, and dates in separate fields. Do not merge them into an exact headcount.
Prioritize 1–10 and 11–50 people, then 51–200. Usually use 200+ only as a comparison unless a clearly separable small feature exists.
Check funding, acquisitions, and parent-company relationships so that capital subsidies or group resources are not mistaken for independent small-team operations.
8. Business model and user workflow
Explain in plain language why users arrive, what they do first and at each subsequent step, what they receive, where they pay, and why payment is worthwhile.
Use the labels Subscription, Pay per use, Credits, Export Paywall, Freemium, Ads, Ads + Subscription, SaaS Seat, API Usage, Storage / Bandwidth, Team Plan, Template Asset, or Marketplace.
Show the workflow as “Input → Processing → Result → Payment point.” Use official sources for pricing and features; do not present illustrative assumptions as actual plans.
9. Technical boundaries
Classify as Browser-only / Hybrid / Backend Required. State whether the analysis covers the whole product or a separable task.
Assess JavaScript / TypeScript, Rust/WASM, and Web Worker feasibility. Record whether files are uploaded, supported formats, memory constraints, and device limits.
Distinguish local QR, image, and some file processing from SMTP verification, monitoring, short-link analytics, file hosting, and database queries that require an ongoing backend.
Identify the hardest-to-replicate databases, template rights, SEO history, brand, integrations, and infrastructure, alongside the easiest individual features to implement.
10. Costs
Assign Cost Predictability a score of 0–10 and explain the basis. Describe drivers such as image count, PDF pages, media minutes, file size, HTTP requests, email addresses, and QR scans.
Distinguish measurable from cheap. Include storage, bandwidth, retries, notifications, third-party services, support, and abuse. When cost data is missing, retain a range or Unconfirmed; never invent profit figures.
11. Long-tail demand
Provide a specific Job To Be Done, not “build a better version of the same product.”
Testable directions: static QR codes that remain usable after printing; iPhone HEVC to PowerPoint-compatible MP4; visa PDFs below 10MB; one-time ATS resume export without a subscription; catch-all email risk assessment; Etsy T-shirt mockups.
These are prompts for exploration, not proven demand. Check whether multiple users repeat the need, whether search demand exists, whether the friction is technical or pricing-related, and whether it can support an independent product. Do not promise catch-all verification accuracy you cannot guarantee.
12. SEO Tool Matrix
If a small team uses a shared engine to support multiple standalone tool pages targeting different search intents, label it SEO Tool Matrix and record actual page evidence.
Examples include video compression/resizing/muting/GIF conversion sharing a media engine, or PDF merging/splitting/rotation sharing a PDF engine. Many pages alone do not establish traffic.
13. Free local tools
When a task can run locally and competitors charge at export, assess a Local-first Free Tool model: free processing + page ads + optional Rewarded Ad + usage-based charges for heavy cloud tasks + Batch / Pro.
“3 free uses per day, plus 3 more after a rewarded ad” is only a testable proposal, not an existing-product fact.
Explain ad placement, interference with the task, acquisition sources, ad inventory, device limits, and real cloud costs. Less server computation does not mean a zero-cost business.
14. Scoring
Total 100: real users 10, low-rated evidence 10, recent reviews 10, recurring pain 15, Google Paid 15, Meta Paid 10, SEO potential 10, team suitability 5, technical replicability 5, cost predictability 5, and long-tail separability 5.
Explain each score. Mark missing evidence Unconfirmed; do not award full points to fill gaps. If scoring only known criteria, report the known-criteria denominator and do not rank those scores directly against complete totals.
These weights favor paid-acquisition opportunities. Keep SEO-first products in a separate observation group so that missing ads are not mistaken for a missing business.
Downgrade or reject candidates with Cost Predictability ≤2, a team >200 without a separable task, no evidence of real usage, or pain limited to isolated Edge Cases. Explain the decision.
15. Evidence levels
Label each important judgment Confirmed Fact / Strong Signal / Hypothesis / Unconfirmed.
Direct public evidence supports a confirmed fact; multiple indirect sources support a strong signal; a proposed product opening is a hypothesis to validate; inaccessible or missing evidence remains unconfirmed.
Retain URLs, dates, and necessary short original excerpts. Advertising alone does not establish profitability, ROI, or replicability.
16. Deliverables
Provide a Top 10. If fewer than 10 qualify, report the actual number rather than relaxing conditions to fill the list.
The master table must include Company, Domain, What It Does, User Workflow, Revenue Model, Trustpilot Score, Total Reviews, 1–3 Star Count/Estimate, Reviews Last 12 Months, Repeated Pain Cluster, Company Size, Monthly Traffic Estimate, Organic Search, Paid Search, Google Ads Status, Meta Ads Status, Acquisition Model, Browser-side Potential, Backend Need, Cost Predictability, Long-tail Opportunity, Replication Difficulty, Evidence Strength, and Opportunity Score.
Write a complete profile for each selected case: workflow, reason to pay, reviews and recurring pain, advertising, traffic, team, reasons the business may be viable, easy and difficult parts to replicate, long-tail task, first MVP, ad placement or pricing proposal, biggest risk, and a research conclusion of pursue / observe / reject.
Include the complete candidate and rejection record, access restrictions, and fields needing further evidence. Save domain-deduplicated candidates as CSV or in an existing research database to avoid duplication next round.
17. Continue discovery
After the Top 10, discover at least 20 new domains through organic/paid competitors, Trustpilot similar companies, and related advertisers.
Known comparison list for this round: Adobe, Canva, Microsoft, Google, CapCut, pdfFiller, Sejda, PDF Candy, Clideo, QRFY, ME-QR, Short.io, Hunter.io, TransferNow, UptimeRobot, Setmore, Common Ninja, Mangools, Kittl, Mediamodifier, WiseStamp, Resume.io, MySignature, Invoice-Generator.com, DesignEvo, Placeit, TinyWow, ZeroBounce, Paperform, Publuu, Snov.io, and POWR.io.
Use these for comparison; do not count them as new discoveries. Report substantive changes separately.
Continue exploring browser tools, monitoring, email, hosting, developer tools, forms, screenshots/screen recording, widgets, data conversion, backup, booking, privacy, calculators, document generation, web scraping, API testing, link management, analytics, compression, generators, maps, website testing, accessibility, and localization. Do not remain focused on PDFs, subtitles, and images.
