Abyss Mint Guide: How I FOMO'd Small Cards

• By vski5 • 2 minutes read

Introduction

@abysscards is a TCG game that was originally priced at 4U for $S. Later, because I was too talkative on Discord and spoke recklessly, the project team decided to price it in $S. Coincidentally, $S appreciated in price, and the cost became 7 $S, with S priced at 0.6U at the time.

This shows that the project team values the community, but they are too naive and overly concerned with the community.

The project team even uses machine translation to communicate with the Chinese community, and they really value the Chinese community and are doing quite well.

Before the update, cards only had one attribute called Aura, which I’ll refer to as “score” throughout this guide.

At noon, cards scoring above 80 could be sold for around 300 $S, and by evening, people were selling for 50 $S. The leaderboard is quite easy to climb, with a score of 100 putting you near the top.

Online, it shows that a wallet can only mint once per day: https://abyss.cards/cards

How to Mint

Go here First, select “begin” alt text

Then connect your wallet alt text

Keep clicking through, first create a free character Then randomly choose one of three options to create a card, costing 7 $S (Currently in update status, will add mint images later)

You can mint 1 unique card daily for 30 days, but the mechanism has been modified with limits. Now limited to 3,200 card mints per day, with a total of 100,000 cards to be produced. The limit is practically meaningless. On the first day, with such FOMO, only 4,200 cards were minted by noon.

Leaderboard

The leaderboard is solely based on Aura points, meaning the most critical factor is the proportion of card points to $S.

According to the official statement, the highest-ranked player becomes the “King of the Abyss”, possibly similar to an airdrop ranking for rewards.

The first place is someone who bought or minted many garbage cards to top the ranking.

How to Sell

Current drawbacks include only being able to sort by price or rarity. Currently, rarity is useless, though the official team claims it will be useful in future updates. You can’t sort by score, so you need to manually filter.

How to Price

Check the sale section in activity, look at prices others have sold at, but be sure to look at multiple sales, as some sell at low prices and others catch good deals.

Also, prices fluctuate greatly. The same score card might sell for double the price in the evening compared to noon.

Issues

The official team indeed lacks a clear economic model. The current gameplay is not much different from a galge (visual novel game). However, they are quite knowledgeable about AIGC and technology. I’ve chatted with project team member JM, and they are quite quick at modifying contracts, with solid smart contract technical skills.
