What I’m Reading This Week (2024/9.22-9.28)

Good morning, this is the 4th week of September 2024.

I’ve been watching 7 Up recently.

The director continuously follows a group of children, filming them every seven years. These children come from different social classes. As they grow up, some move down in class, some remain, and some transcend it. However, what determines whether a person lives a happy life is not money, but their own understanding and feelings.

Among all the people recorded, those who lived happy lives had one thing in common: they found a good partner.

For example, two orphans were part of the series. In the parts where they were filmed as young children, it was clear that their mental state was very fragile, like glass that could shatter at the slightest touch.

But after growing up, because they found someone who loved them, even though they didn’t make much money and were just ordinary workers, and their social class didn’t change, they still lived very happy lives.

Marriage and love are so powerful that they can heal an unfortunate childhood—an orphan’s childhood.

The lucky ones can use a happy childhood to heal their whole life. For those less fortunate, who need to spend their whole life healing their childhood, the best remedy is a partner who truly loves them.
