Recently, Binance listed the THENA token, which is the first large-scale application of the Ve33 protocol on the BSC20 chain to receive implied support from CZ through his tweets. The Ve33 protocol had previously appeared on the Optimism and Base chains.

The veToken model pioneered by Curve solves the problem of valueless governance tokens appreciating in value and aligning with holders. Similarly, as a new financial tool, the Ve33 protocol can alleviate the dilemma of PVP token issuance on platforms like PumpFun, while injecting vitality into the chain by locking up the funds of large holders. The actual liquidity center on the Optimism chain is Velodrome, but the high degree of control by large holders and long staking periods have disrupted the liquidity on the chain. Moreover, as long as the price of the VELO token rises, the voting yield of stakers will continue to decline, and the growth of veVELO has also slowed down.

The liquidity on the Base chain is mainly concentrated in Aerodrome Finance, which accounts for more than half of the staking share on the Base chain. It is worth mentioning that THENA appeared earlier than the leading Ve33 DeFi protocols on Optimism and Base chains. Velodrome V1 was launched in April 2022 at the earliest, while THENA was launched in November 2022. However, the number of active addresses is neither as good as those launched earlier nor those launched later than it. The only positive is that it was listed on Binance, and on the day of listing, CZ implied that THENA would make BSC great again.

A decline is inevitable.

What I’m Reading This Week (2024/11.24-11.30)

Good morning, this is the first week of December 2024.

Recently, I’ve been watching “The Day of the Jackal”, a TV series adapted from the novel, which is quite interesting. It was also adapted into a movie in 1971.

2. Aggregated DeFi Dashboard

3. a16z Founder Chris Dixon’s Book “Read Write Own”

The title of this book “read write own” directly corresponds to the three core characteristics of Web3 - users can read content, create content, and truly own their data and assets. This also reflects the fundamental transformation of Web3 compared to the Web2 era.
